Function of the external data protection officer

The tasks of an external data protection officer include, for example:

• advising and supporting the management of a company on all data protection issues
• advice and support for employees and any existing works councils
• the training and written commitment of employees to data secrecy
• advice, on-site training and ongoing awareness-raising on data protection measures
• the prior checking and monitoring of the proper collection, processing and use of personal data
• the participation in the documentation required by law (procedure index, protocols, etc.)
• Support in the design of contracts in line with data protection requirements for external order data processing (payroll accounting, advertising and marketing agencies, etc.)
• participation in risk analysis to carry out a data protection impact assessment
• Monitoring of data protection-compliant system defaults
